Sports Massage and Deep Tissue Massage

Did you know that here at Anatomy Chester the symptoms we treat the most are stiff neck and sore shoulders?

Deep Tissue Massage or Sports Massage is one of our specialities here at Anatomy Chester.   The two massages are much of the same treatments but referred to in different contexts.  The sports massage is not only for sports people, it is for everyone who wants a deep massage!

Sports or deep tissue massage focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue and are especially helpful for chronic and tense areas such as stiff necks, lower back tightness and sore shoulders. Using specific strokes, a Deep Tissue Massage is both powerful and vigorous to get to the deeper layers of muscle tissue.

Sports Massage uses the same techniques and is typically used before, during, and after athletic events. The purpose of the massage is to prepare the athlete for peak performance. It does this by draining away toxins, helping to reducing swelling and muscle tension, improving flexibility and reducing the risk of sustaining injuries.

Regular treatments can help break down scar tissue, remove the build-up of toxins, improve mobility and reduce the risk of further injury.

Unlike Swedish massage therapy, which is used for relaxation, Deep Tissue Massage and Sports Massage can help with specific problem, such as:

  • Headaches caused by muscular tension
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Recovery from injuries
  • Pulled muscles
  • Postural problems
  • Tight
  • Muscle tension or spasm
  • And there is some supporting evidence for its help with fibromyalgia

We are known throughout Chester for our expertise in sports and deep tissue massage; the results we achieve with this treatment are second to none.
